The Lovely Roots

At The Lovely Roots, we take great care in preparing and packaging each plant to ensure it arrives safely. Please review the information below regarding our shipping schedule, methods, and arrival expectations.


Shipping Schedule

Orders are processed and shipped Monday through Wednesday to reduce the risk of plants being held in transit over the weekend.

Orders placed on holidays will ship on the next available business day.

Please note that fulfillment and shipping may experience delays during major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's.


Shipping Methods

Orders are shipped via UPS Ground or UPS 3-Day Select, whichever provides the fastest estimated delivery time to your location.

Additional shipping options may be available at checkout, including UPS 2-Day Air and Next Day Air, depending on destination and availability.

For Next Day shipping, orders must be placed Monday through Thursday before 11 AM CST for same-day processing.

While many shipments arrive within 2–3 days, transit times are ultimately determined by the shipping carrier and are not guaranteed.


Packaging

To help plants travel safely, all plants are grown and shipped in our moss, perlite, and orchid bark substrate, which helps reduce transplant and shipping stress upon arrival.

Plants are carefully secured inside the shipping box to minimize movement during transit.

While every precaution is taken, some minor cosmetic stress may occur during shipping. This can include:

  • slight leaf bending
  • substrate movement
  • minor yellowing or cosmetic imperfections

These changes are normal for live plants during transit and are not considered damage.

Because plants are living organisms, natural variation in size, leaf shape, and coloration may occur, and the plant you receive may differ slightly from listing photos.


Sustainable Packaging

We strive to use environmentally responsible packaging whenever possible.

Current packaging materials may include:

  • cardboard shipping boxes
  • kraft paper and crinkle paper for void fill
  • poly-fil cushioning
  • paper honeycomb wrap for protection

These materials help protect plants during transit while allowing us to reduce our environmental impact where possible.


Weather Considerations

The Lovely Roots does not provide heat packs.

However, insulation is included with every shipment at no additional cost. When temperatures drop below approximately 50°F, packages may be double insulated to help protect plants during transit.

We care about our customers and their plants, and the shipping fee charged at checkout is designed to cover all necessary shipping and packaging materials, including insulation when needed.

Customers are still encouraged to monitor weather conditions in their area before placing an order and acknowledge the potential risks associated with shipping live plants during extreme temperatures.


Delivery Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring that someone is available to receive the package promptly upon delivery.

Plants left outside or unattended for extended periods may experience stress or damage and may not qualify for refunds or replacements.


Arrival Inspection

Please inspect your plant immediately upon delivery.

If your plant arrives with significant damage, you must contact us within 12 hours of the recorded delivery time.

Significant damage may include:

  • severe rot present upon arrival
  • a plant arriving structurally compromised or broken
  • major damage clearly caused during shipping

Minor cosmetic imperfections such as small leaf blemishes, slight tears, or mild shipping stress do not qualify as significant damage.

Your message must include:

  • your order number
  • photos or video of the unboxing process
  • clear photos of the plant and roots
  • photos of the packaging and shipping box

Providing unboxing documentation allows us to properly evaluate the situation and determine an appropriate resolution.


Carrier Responsibility

Once a package has been accepted by the shipping carrier, transit times and handling are outside of our control.

The Lovely Roots is not responsible for carrier delays, lost packages, failed delivery attempts, or other carrier-related issues.

If a shipment is delayed or mishandled, customers are encouraged to contact UPS directly to initiate a claim or investigation.


Recommended Shipping for High Value Plants

For high value plants, expedited shipping options such as UPS 2-Day or Next Day shipping are recommended whenever possible to minimize transit time and reduce shipping stress.


Shipping Fees

Shipping fees are non-refundable, unless an error occurred during order fulfillment by The Lovely Roots.

Domestic Shipping

At this time, The Lovely Roots ships within the United States only. International shipping is not currently offered.
